Suffern’s Shelby Greany finished first in the steeplchase in 6:42.86, a PR and the third fastest time in the country as she won the national title in North Carolina. She finished second last year at nationals, but this year she came through and sprinted to the finish line. Emma Miller-Bedell of Tappan Zee claimed fourth in 6:55.74 claiming all-American status.
Elizabeth Mott finished her high school career on a high note as she placed first in the 400 hurdles in 59.96. This win, while not as fast as last week at states, still has to feel real good after placing second at states.
The Ursuline 3,200 relay team of Meghan Brown, Rosie Crean, Shanel Golding and Jackie McCarthy also ran to an all-American finish as the team placed fifth at nationas in 9:14.22. The Tappan Zee team of Sara Graney, Caile Kohlbrenner, Miller- Bedell and Jaqueline Pollack finished 14th in 9:22.19. Right behind them was Cailtin Hudson, Olivia Bruton, Emma Clarke, and Tori Flannery of Bronxville as they crossed the finish line in 9:22.61.
Jen Clayton just missed out on a national title of her own. She placed third in the long jump in 19-7. The winner jumped 2.5 inches more. While it wasn’t her best jump of the season, coming away with all-American status as a sophomore is still impressive.
Megan Faeth of Somers threw 112-0 in the javelin, placing 21st. Charlotte Pope threw 118-9 in the hammer throw, placing 15th.
The Fordham Prep 3,200 relay team of Harley Griffiths, Michael Jennings, Zach Keefer and Carlos Petrovich just missed all-American status as they placed 9th in 7:47.88. Ben Drink, Michael Cunningham, Sean Halpin and Kyle Shepard placed 13th in 7:51.40.
Julian Sheinbaum enacted some revenge on Kyle Merber as the Scarsdale senior finished seventh at nationals in the mile, while Merber finished eighth. Sheinbaum ran the fastest time in the state in 4:11.57.
In the 400 hurdles, Hen Hud’s Zach Weisbrot placed 22nd in 55.91.
Hopefully I didn’t miss anyone. Overall, I feel like it was a pretty successful weekend down in the Carolina’s, sorry we couldn’t be there. We’ll try and update you on some of the area athletes that are going to try and qualify for the Olympics over the next couple weeks.

How about the North Rockland girls in the 4xMile placing 7th? They ran 21:07 and just missed out on All-American.
Gina Talt, finished 6th in the Freshman Mile
How about those Koalas from Ursuline – 5th in 4×8 – first ever All-American Relay team – came back to miss medals in 4xmile by only 5 seconds. Iona boys 7:51 in 4×8 and then 7th in 4xmile missing medals by 1.5 seconds. Great job for Coach Mitchell and his two teams they peaked both at States and Nationals.
Bronxville girls finished 5th in the 4×1mile relay to win All American recognition – 37 Bronxville girls have now won 126 All American certificates.
Great Job Bronxville. Congratualations to all!
Does Bronxville have a boys Team? How come we never hear anything about them? Something wrong with this picture.
They do and they sent a number of athletes to spring states – a sprinter and a 4×100 for sure and possibly a steepler. Look for good things to come from them in the next few years. However, having a strong team of one gender does not assure you a strong team of the other gender.
I surely know they have a team, my question is why their boys are never as good as their girls, why only the emphasis on the girls, aren’t they basically the same kind of athlete? If there girls are so great every year why are their boys not even on par? New Rochelle, Iona/Ursuline,
Mt.Vernon, Suffern and Somers are good every year on both sides.
Just a thought…...
Track fan… check the record books, the Suf and New Ro boys teams have not met or come close to the sucesses of the girls team.
Sorry sir you missed the point.
