The cancellation of the Suffolk County Coaches Invitational had a trickle down effect on other races.

The Suffern boys won the Division I race yesterday at of the Warwick Wave Mania with five finishers placing in the top 20.
Led by Mike Pereira, who finished fourth overall (16:13) on the 3.09 mile Warwick Valley High School course, the Mounties beat out 14 other teams with a score of 55.
Warwick Valley finished second with 73 points.
Suffern’s trio of Johnny Mitchell (16:41), Tyler Frigge (16:42) and Aidan Galasso (16:43) took 10th through 12th.
The Mounties other top finishers were Terence Galasso (16:58) 18th overall, Kevin McKenna (16:58) 21st overall and Rich Barbera (17:27), who was 27th.
After originally planning on attending the Suffolk Coaches Invitational at Sunken Meadow, which was canceled due to weather, Suffern went to Warwick.
“I have to thank the people at Warwick for letting us in last-minute,” Suffern coach Joe Biddy said. “Mike (Pereira) was great. He ran a good race.”
Mahopac finished fifth overall. With a time of 16:30, Joe Abed El Latif was the Indians top runner taking sixth. Teammate James McDonough was eighth (16:33).
Dobbs Ferry was right behind Mahopac in sixth place. Patrick Wortner was fifth overall, 16:20. His brother Brendan Wortner was 13th, 16:46.

DeWitt Clinton Invitational: At Van Cortlandt Park, Ursuline’s Katie Sullivan took first place in her second straight invitational with a time of 19 minutes, 38 seconds.

Bronxville took first in the team scoring as Henrietta Miers (20:27), Tori Flannery (20:28), Amelia Phillips (20:29), Caitlin Hudson (20:43) and Meredith Rizzo (20:54) finished third through eighth. Jackie McCarthy (12th, 21:22), Ashley O’Sullivan (14th, 21:41), Carlie Brittan (16th, 21:46) and Mary O’Shea (20th, 22:06) rounded out the top five for Ursuline as the team took third.
For the boys, Iona Prep’s Sean Halpin and Kyle Shepard took fourth and fifth in 17:08 as the team placed second to Sherando. Nick Athanasidy (20th, 17:57), Ayo Bajulaiye (29th, 18:24) and Vince Fellegra (32nd, 18:29) finished the scoring for the Gaels. Dayton Flannery (11th, 17:33) and Jack Hutton (19th, 17:51) led Bronxville to eighth place.

New Balance Ocean State Invitational: Miriam Munn led the Brewster girls to a second-place finish as she took ninth in 20:15. Bishop Feehan finished first. Ariana Bottalico (20:29), Nicole Zazzero (20:37) and Christy Bak (21:02) anchored the Brewster team.
The Brewster boys finished fourth. Charlie Carr took 16th in 17:29. John Carr (17:44), Adam McIe (17:51), Nick Arena (17:58) and Kyle Darcy (18:04) filled out Brewster’s top five. Rob Gorecki (17:01) and Pat Hashmall (17:17) led Somers to fifth place.

Queensbury Invitational: Tappan Zee’s Matt Panebianco placed 11th. The boys team was 10th. The Tappan Zee girls team finished seventh with Jacqueline Pollack taking 13th overall, 19:35.76. Kellyanne Bondulich was 19th overall, 20:01.74
