The running world in the Lower Hudson Valley with Dan Marra

Today in The Journal News

If you haven’t seen them already I wrote a notebook on the quick rebuilding process Somers went through. For Rockland it talks about the success Matt Panebianco has had this season. My last notebook talks about the determination of the Dobbs Ferry team.

On the girls’ side, Matt Ng wrote about the Tappan Zee’s success so far this season. In Westchester/Putnam his article is about the incredible season Ursuline’s Katie Sullivan has had.

A few corrections. Dobbs coach is John-Paul Kaminski, we already have way too many Patricks on the Eagles. Also Somers has been winning the Class A titles, not Class B, where Pearl River and Byram Hills have been duking it out.

The Tuskers’ return to strength after losing their great 5 seniors from last year has indeed been impressive. I thought that Class C Dobbs would beat Class A Somers in the Big Red this year fairly easily since they had lost so much, but the big schools can reload pretty quickly. With Gurecki and Hashmall providing a strong base to pull the younger runners up, the Tuskers are within shouting distance of Fox Lane and Brewster. Should be a good Sectional matchup.
