A look back

October
26

Sorry it took so long for me to post, but I was away all day today. I’m sure most of you have heard by now or figured that it would happen, but Arlington won both the girls and boys titles in the Northern County Championships on Saturday. Apparently, the meet was at Lakeside Park in Pawling, I believe it was originally scheduled to be held at Bowdoin Park. Unfortunately we could not cover the meet, but you could check out what happened there and at the CHSAA sectionals by clicking here.

Brewster and Mahopac put up a good fight, but Arlington is such a strong team. But the two area teams performed well enough to definitely gain some momentum heading into Friday’s meets. You can check out the results of that meet by clicking here. Fordham Prep took second in at Van Cortlandt. You can check out those results here.

In other news, the NYS rankings are up. You can view them by clicking here. Pearl River is placed nicely in the top 10 for the girls, but behind Arlington who I think Pearl River might be better than. Ursuline took a nice leap in the Class A standings. North Rockland also jumped up in AA.

North Rockland, as I predicted last week (shameless pat on the back) jumped ahead of Arlington in the overall state standings for the boys. Nothing else real major on the boys side, but Dobbs Ferry has been steadily moving up the rankings and Byram Hills looks to be a slight favorite heading into Friday as is Brewster…but very slight.
I’ll have some more thoughts and predictions for the races on Friday some time this week, and as always keep checking back. Now I’m going to get some sleep after a very busy day. Oh and by the way, my wife and I are trying to come up with a couples costume for our Halloween party, so if anyone has any suggestions, I’m listening (just keep in mind she’s about seven months pregnant). Also, another note…we have shot down the Birtney Spears/K-Fed idea, so don’t suggest that. Alright, that’s all for now….go get some sleep.

Pearl River girls are at #7 overall in NY State, while
Arlington is a bubble team. I don’t understand where you
are getting that Arlington is placed ahead of PR?

  2. Dan Marra

I’m not sure where I got that either. I think I meant to say that Arlington (girls) is ahead of North Rockland, which I didn’t agree with. I think North Rockland could beat out Arlington this Friday.

If Fox Lane has Sacks back, then I am picking them.

They run well at this location.

Dan, you were on the mark early on when you said FL had

one weakness….depth. When FL has run with their top 5, they have been unbeatable in class A.

    Should be the best race

  4. class b

class b guys is going to be a sick race. pearl river and byram are going to have a battle. I think that the top 10 will look something like this
    1. Hickey (PR)
    2. Robinson (Rye)
    3. Mckallen (PR)
    4. Violone (BH)
    5. Kohlbrenner (PR)
    6. Ciofletti (BH)
    7. Hertzel (PV)
    8. Bouton (Rye)
    9. Clinton (PR)
    10. Love (BH)

Hickey is going to win by a lot but the next places after that are going to be really tight. It wouldn’t be the section 1 championships without Pearl River and Byram Hills battling it out in class b.

  5. run

i agree class b should be a good race between byram hills and pearl river and also for the individual spots to qualify for states
