Nanuet relays

April
12

Hey,

So I am still drying off and thawing out from today’s relays at Nanuet but I think I can feel my fingers enough to type this story up for you guys.

First off, I have to give credit to all the athletes and coaches who were out all day in this weather because it was crazy.

To give you an idea of what went on… Suffern took the overall boys and girls title with a combined score of 130. They finished second in both the girls and the boys.

Don Bosco took first in the girls, while Shaker took first in the girls.

There was some great competition out there today.

Girls:

Tappan Zee led the 4×800 relay with a time of 10:18.2 and Clarkstown South took the 4×400 with a 4:17.3. Overall, a lot of different athletes and combinations got out on the track today. Ramapo finished first in the 4×100 with a time of 52.7 – an entire second faster than the second place team White Plains.

In the field events, Pearl River owned the long jump with a combined distance of 29-0.75, while Irvington took the high jump at 9-10. It seemed like everyone out there got a piece of the glory.

Boys:

The Ramapo boys took first place in the 4×100 with a 44.4. Looks like the Gryphons boys and girls 4×100 teams are a force to reckon with. It will be interesting to see how this turns up later this season.

Pearl River took the sprint medley relay with a time of 3:46.1 beating their closest competition Tappan Zee by 1.5 seconds.

The Nyack Long Jump team came out with high marks despite the weather with a distance of 37-0.75 and the Hamilton high jump squad combined for an 11-10 to give them top honors. In the Discus Clarkstown South finished first with a 240-10.

In honor of the event there was an alumni mile, largely populated by Clarkstown South alumni. Former Tappan Zee state champion Lou Maturo took first place with a time of 4:39.1. In the alumni and coaches 400 meter relay, Don Bosco took first in front of it’s only competition Clarkstown South. South finished with a 53.6.

If you want to know anything else you are just going to have to pick up the paper or check out the web tomorrow. Don’t want to give away all the surprises.
