Red Raider Relays Day 2

April
18

Hey bloggers!

First off, I’m sunburned. I can’t seem to win with these relays. Last weekend I was so cold I thought I was going to die and now I’m sunburned. Oh well.

I was out covering the Rockland half of the meet. Dan will be on later to post about the Westchester accomplishments.

There was some great competition out there today. North Rockland’s Chris Carrington won all three of his registered events, the 1,600-meter run, the 800-meter dash and the sprint medley relay.

The North Rockland girls 4×400 relay team took first place with a time of 4:09.83.

Something did seem to be missing however as both Clayton sisters were out for the day because of injuries. The Mounties were able to rack up some third place finishes but nothing major besides Shelby victory in the 3,200 yesterday.

Ramapo was a big presence for Rockland today. The boys finished first in the 4×100 and the 4×400. They took second in the 4×200. Chidi Ezemma also took first place in the boys 400-meter dash. His twin brother Dozie took second.

As for the Ramapo girlsl, they took first place in the 4×100 as well, shaving two seconds off their first place time at the Nanuet relays last weekend. They finished second in the 4×200 behind New Rochelle.

Jarman Esperance from Nyack took first place in the 110 hurdles with a 14.52, a personal best for him. North Rockland’s Ryan Lacossade took second place with a 14.64. The event was close but there was no doubt that Esperance had the win.

Overall, the day was really successful with some impressive times. The nice weather also helped.
