Federation High jump

June
15

Hey bloggers,

I wanted to post a bit of a correction. It’s come to my attention that for the high jump federation title, Megan Talay and Janelle Clayton tied for second at 5 feet 7 inches, with the same amount of misses.

I wanted to clear this up because both girls did an amazing job and deserve the credit.

Apparently, I saw an early or incorrect version of the high jump results because I checked that sheet like six times while writing my story and then when I checked it online last night upon hearing this news, not only were they tied but their names were in a different order then before. But who knows what happened there.

I saw results shortly after the event finished and they had
them listed as tied. Don’t know what results you were looking at!

Good luck to everyone going down to greensboro this week. I’m pretty sure that Mike Hickey and Shelby Greany will be racing in the 5k on thursday and are seeded high. Shelby could definitely win that race. Then there’s Chris Carrington in the mile who may be able to contend for all-american honors, Arlingtons 4xmile could contend ftw. Jackie Gamboli is also in the mile and hopefully can run a fast time. I’d also like to see if Bronxville could possibly win the girls 4×8, I’m not familiar with the other teams in the race so good luck to them. And thats a preview from a high school junior for what its worth, since it seems the journal news forgot that the season hasn’t ended yet.

we should hire you …why dont you apply

also a shout out to the atheletes that are participating in the Empire Games qualifiers this weekend. (maybe a reporter couldget there, aqnd talk about how this is happening absent the Sate support) And then those who are participating in the Regional Jr Olympics in MA next weekend.

HIGH SCHOOLER JUNIOR advice for you and others- look for other meets to compete in not just those your school takes you to. It is a chance to be seen by college coaches if you plan to run post high school.

Journal News the more you keep the sport in the paper the better your chances of getting more space to report during the season.

really? nothing on mike hickey or shelby greany’s 5K???

  6. running

there was something about hickey’s and greany’s 5k’s in the paper on friday i think and im guessing you already know what happened in their races. there are also videos online if u want to watch the races

two competeions this weekend held at White Plains Highschool, Qulaifier for Liberty Emopire game and the MAC Championships. Nothing in the papaer about any of it. Field included bandem to master races. And many local runners as well. Just another chance to keepthe sport in the limelite. Also a way to promote the sport to younger runners.

Hope all is well with Dan. We miss your posts.

HELLO????? NATIONALS TOOK PLACE LAST WEEK!! WHY NO COVERAGE?????

  10. ...

overall section 1 had a very good showing down at greensboro. As already stated shelby and mike hickey ran pretty well getting 5th and 7th respectively. The 4×8’s on friday were very impressive with bronxville and new rochelle just barely missing out on all america honors. I believe iona prep won their heat of the 4×8, as well as running very well in the smr. One of the most impressive performances in my mind was arlingtons 4xmile getting 3rd in an extremely stacked race. I’m not too sure what happened to carrington but i’m sure there was a reason as he hasn’t had a down race the whole season. I think he is racing out in oregon this weekend for usatf jr’s so good luck to him and anyone else going out there.

  11. Coach Gallino

Bronxville’s 4 x mile was also all American. Katie Sullivan and Kyle Shepard were both all American in the steeple.

There were plenty of good story lines but it seems that the coverage of the season ended with the state meet. It may be that the paper doesn’t cover this meet as it’s not a sanctioned high school meet.

  12. section 1 runner

    arlington’s 4 x mile was a section 1 record!

  13. running

on section one website, 2009 westchester all county results still have 2008 results- please fix

  14. flanders

Will there be an Westchester all county listing for the spring season

  15. Dand

I can’t list what hasn’t been sent to me. Tell one of the
coaches that was at the meeting to get them to me and they
    will be updated.

Jump fan if you are reading the blog you asked in the past about one of the jumpers. spoke with her family memeber and the simple replied was the jumper “blew up” and would be back next year. Said the jumper was missed frm the competetion and glad to here of the return.

Dan…. don’t you have a contact, an inside source or something like that. Can’t it be leaked out during some inclandestine meeting of track and field followers? I would figure a phone call could get the lisiting.

  18. xc fan

I’m your daughter is all county flanders so give it a rest.

  19. flanders

xc fan.. first you are not my daughter. Second I would like to see all who made all county lisited in the paper so the sport gets more attention and maybe appreciation. You use the word fan as your name in this blog so I assume you understand same being a fan of the sport. Sure my duahgter may be all county but recogition of ALL the athletes would be a GREAT thing to see/read. In the past entries to this blog have been harsh on the the Journal News and Dan so the idea is to HELP PROMOTE the sport, and get him more space. I was not one who said I would cancel my subscription, instead I would try to get him something to show the editors that, like you, there are people who actually follow the sport and not only want to see the all county listed but want to see the names of those who came in second and third at dual meets. I am sure you would like to see your name, or your child’s name, in the box score if placing second or third. As well it is nice to see your school listed. So no xc fan, I will not give it a rest. When I see 2nd and 3rd listed, when a reporter can go the extra yard to get the information or a local paper can give more space to the sport I may consider it but for right now for those kids who get up early to run, practice after practice, for parents who sit 3 hours before their athletes event I will continue to ask the paper to support the sport.
